If a cable modem is not working off vacation, and is showing lots of flaps, check the state the modem is in via NOMS Query CMTS for this CableModem button.
A pop up window will come up telling you the modem state. Refresh if it doesn’t load at first. If it is in a boot loop it will be getting stuck at init(rc) or init(io). If this is happening you can fix the problem by following these steps:
- In Ezlink NOMS click the Query CMTS cbr8-1 button.
- Select the Delete Modem query.
- Click Run Query.
- Wait for the modem to try syncing up once again. It should come online within a few minutes and no longer be flapping.
