Customer calls in regarding a Alarm.com Smoke Alarm that will not stop ringing.
This happens to Hard Wired Smoke Alarms. When they go off, the alarm goes into a latch mode where it continues. In usually cases there are more than one Hard Wired Smoke alarm and this one allows a person to be able to find which one is going off if necessary.
To disarm a Hard Wired Smoke Alarm do one of these two options:
- On the keypad, press and hold reset (looks like a circle icon) for 2 seconds. This will power down the smoke detectors and power them back up clearing the latched alarm.
- Press *72, which does the same thing.What happens on hard wired smoke alarm is, when they go into alarm, they latch into the alarm state. They are stuck in the alarm. This way you can find out what alarm is going off ( in the cases where there are more than one ). The codes above release the latch on the smoke alarms and boots them back up again.
