Reminder To Reboot All STBs for IPTV Troubles, Generally

Hello,

We are finding it necessary to point this out due to trouble patterns so please take this as a friendly reminder.

Generally for all IPTV problems we should be rebooting  –==>ALL<==– of the customer’s STBs.  Use getstbinfo to see the last reboot time.  If has been more than a few days, please reboot.

We want to make sure all STBs have been rebooted because sometimes there are software updates queued up.  Other times we find that a STB on the WHDVR network could be causing some random issue and rebooting clears it up.

I would not trust the Minerva Reboot function 100%.   Even when “Mandatory” is checked.  If you use that, be sure to getstbinfo afterwars to be sure it  rebooted and confirm it did reboot by searching the page for “Reboot ”  (space at the end will bring you directly to the reboot count).  I have tested the reboot function (by running a ping, watching for it to go down and come back up, and then check getstbinfo to confirm the last reboot date has been updated) and it seems to work half of the time or maybe a bit better than that.     We need to be 100% sure that STBs have been rebooted.
