Update Oct 10, 2018:
Please do not escalate any issues where you are getting “Can’t connect coax bridge” without rebooting MOCA adapter(s) and then all STBs.

On occasion, usually after a power flicker/outage, some IPTV STBs will not get an IP address when they try to boot up. They will get some kind of error such as Can’t Connect Coax Bridge or Enter Host or IP or something similar. We have to make sure the STB can communicate back to the main router/ONT.
Wireless STBs
One thing that is often over looked is when the customer has Wireless Video Transmitters in place such as Airsonics, Arris/Motorolla, or Ruckus. If a STB is not able to get an IP check if the ethernet from the STB leads to one of these devices, mocha adapter, or hardwire through the wall to get a good idea of how it is connected.
If Wireless is in place, reboot the receiver near the STB and wait a couple minutes. Then reboot the STB. Give it a good 3-5 minutes to reboot.
On rare occasions when mocha is in use the mocha adapter(s) will need to be power cycled too.
There should never be a need to manually Enter a Host or IP. That screen is just a sign that the STB can’t reach the DHCP server.
Forcing To Ethernet When MOCA is Not In Use
When a customer gets the error Can’t Connect Coax Bridge there is of course the setting that forces it to Ethernet and that can be helpful but it will not be in all cases especially if the root of the problem is further up the line.
