IPs Flushed From NOMS
A while ago NOMS had an issue showing IPs that were incorrect. When it was fixed all IPs were flushed from NOMS so no IP would appear until the username re-authenticated.
Since Calix 854G’s, and and other ONTs that have an auto generated DHCP username used for authentication, rarely re-authenticate many of them still do not show an IP address. We would normally use the IP address to look up an 854G Gigicantre ONT in Consumer Connect but without it being in NOMS we have to take extra steps to find it.
Find By Auto-generated DHCP Username
In most cases NOMS will still show the auto-generated DHCP username. For example: Extr.11 Eth 1/1/4/1417/G1:2341
You would use the MX480 to find the IP address by typing in show subscribers | match “Extr.11 Eth 1/1/4/1417/G1:2341” – It as to be in quotes due to the spaces.
Find By ONT ID
Or you can extract the ONT number and just search by that. In this case the ONT number is 1417. So you would search show subscribers | match 1417 – which may bring up results for other Wire Centers so if you get mutliple make sure you grab the IP for the correct one. You may see entries from EXTR, DSWD, KLON, GNBD, etc…
Locate ONT ID In Ivue
In NOMS there may be cases where the auto-generated username doesn’t show up. In these cases you can also grab the ONT ID from the Description field on the Facilities Tab in ivue.
