IPTV – Airsonics Lost Wireless Connection

July 12, 2017: Summary On How To Fix

In Consumer Connect Plus pull up the Gigacenter and go to Configuration\Wireless.  From there open the 5GHz Radio tab.

Turn off DFS and click Submit.

Go to System Tools\Reboot.  Click Reboot and wait for the Gigacenter to come back up.   TV should be working.    Call in if there are any issues.

June 28th:

If you receive a call from an IPTV customer who uses Airsonics and their TV is down there are a few things you need to check in Consumer Connect+.  Most customers with this setup will have a Gigacenter (854g ONT or 844e router) that is accessible via CC+.

Confirm The Airsonics Station is Connected To The 5GHz WiFi

  1. Pull up the device in CC+
  2. Go to System Tools\Connect To Device
  3. Click Connect. If you get a security warning in your browser, click Continue.  A pop-up window will come up (so allow pop-ups if prompted) with the Gigacenter’s GUI.
  4. Click Support
  5. Click Wireless Analyzer.  (Note: A valuable tool in troubleshooting WiFi)
  6. Select the 5GHz radio.

If the Airsonics IS connected, you should see a device connected to a 5GHZ_IPTV_xxxxxxxxx SSID in the list below.    The MAC Address associated will be either an Airsonics or an Entone (for newer models with built in WiFi coming…).   It will have an IP in the 10.233.x.x range.

If it is not connected the easiest next step is to reboot the ONT.

Reboot The ONT

  1. Pull up the device in CC+
  2. Go to System Tools.
  3. Click Reboot and then click Reboot.
  4. Wait for an indication that the reboot has completed successfully.
  5. Check via the steps above to see if the Airsonics is listed now.

If you now see the Airsonics listed we are usually back in business.  The STB will not likely need a reboot as well, but if it is not up and running rebooting would be STB the next step to take.

Side Note: Rebooting the ONT also fixes the rare problem where one STB loses access to one particular channel while the other STB(s) still have access to the channel.

Re-link the Airsonics

If the reboot did not get things back up and running you can try re-linking the Airsonics at this point.   There is no sense in trying this before rebooting the ONT so be sure to try that first.

  1. Pull up the device in CC+
  2. Go to System Tools\Connect To Device
  3. Click Connect. If you get a security warning in your browser, click Continue.  A pop-up window will come up (so allow pop-ups if prompted) with the Gigacenter’s GUI.
  4. Click Support
  5. Click Video WPS.
  6. Click Connect.
  7. Within 120 seconds have the customer press the WPS button on the Airsonics and wait for it to connect.
  8. STB may need to reboot after it connects.
